Janie Rangel, Chair, represents PODER on the Tankfarm Area Neighborhood Kouncil
(TANK), and is an active on tank farm issues and is a member of the Gardens
Neighborhood Association. Janie is active in her grandson's elementary school and is a
State of Texas employee working with the Worker's Compensation Division.
Marie Govea, Secretary, represents PODER on educational issues and participates in
United for an Independent District of Schools (UNIDOS). She is also chair of the Calmar
Cove Neighborhood Association. Marie is active in her children's high school activities and
is a City of Austin employee working with the Health Department.
Bertha and Tommy Williams, represent PODER on the Govalle/Johnston Terrace
Neighborhood Plan Leadership Team. They also serve as Chairs of the Stuart Circle
Neighborhood Association. Mrs. Williams is a retired State of Texas employee and Mr.
Williams is retired military veteran.
Josephine Zamarripa represents PODER's Bus Riders Union on the Austin Transit
Authority, Capital Metro, Consumer Advisory Council. She is also the Co-Chair of the
Brooke School Neighborhood Association. Mrs. Zamarripa is the elder spokesperson
recognized as one of the "Community Women of the Millenium".
Luissana Santibanez represents youth interests and concerns. Luissana has served as
a youth leader and instructor for our YSJ Leadership Development Program. Presently
she is a senior at the University of Texas. Her interests include immigration and
globalization issues. (Chicana/Female) Member since 2007.
Susana Almanza represents PODER as Director of the organization. She is also the chair
of the Vargas Neighborhood Association. Susana was a former member of the city of
Austin's Environmental Board and is also a former Planning Commissioner.
